Yukana Private Stage 3
Commercial project
In 2023, the design team at MTID delivered a transformative upgrade to key communal spaces at Yukana Private as part of the Stage 3 works, blending functionality, flexibility, and aesthetics within a cohesive Modern Australian Country Elegance aesthetic. At the heart of this renovation was the reimagining of the Fellowship Room, a central hub for resident activities and gatherings. This multipurpose space was thoughtfully redesigned to serve a wide range of functions, requiring meticulous planning to achieve an environment that seamlessly adapts to diverse uses while maintaining visual appeal and comfort.
The redesign included detailed documentation and finishes selections that harmonised with the overarching aesthetic while addressing practical needs. AV equipment integration was carefully considered to ensure technological functionality without compromising the room’s warmth and elegance. The design also introduced bespoke soft and hard furnishings, with furniture designed, procured, installed, and styled by MTID to complement the space’s refined yet welcoming character.
The refurbishment extended to the powder room, creating a fresh and inviting experience, as well as the activation of linkways between the dining room and the dementia care court. These linkways were transformed into engaging transitional spaces that enhance connectivity and continuity throughout the facility.
MTID's thoughtful design and execution reinforced Yukana Private's commitment to its residents, showcasing how architectural and interior design can elevate community living while reflecting the importance of those who call it home.
The senior leadership team at Yukana Private demonstrated their commitment to valuing their staff by investing in the thoughtful refurbishment of the staff room—a space designed to provide respite and support for their hardworking team. MTID transformed this area into a calm yet quietly invigorating retreat, balancing practicality with an uplifting aesthetic. Custom-designed storage solutions offer staff secure and organised spaces for their belongings during shifts, while a handwash station and a dedicated sign-in and notices area promote hygiene and seamless communication. The inclusion of a fully functioning kitchenette ensures convenience for meal preparation and relaxation.
To create a welcoming atmosphere, MTID introduced neutral textures and a custom-printed wallpaper featuring native Australian florals, tying the design to a sense of place and serenity. The result is a multifunctional space that serves as a haven for meal breaks or moments of respite during challenging days, reflecting Yukana Private's recognition of their staff's invaluable contributions.
